Goal

The increase rates in eating disorders and obesity constitute an alarming health problem in the Puerto Rican population. As a food services enterprise, Quality Food Company Inc. liberates your company or school’s administration personnel from all worries and concerns regarding the cafeteria management and assumes all the responsibilities for the operation and maintenance of the cafeteria facilities and equipment. Mrs. Madeline Martínez Rivera, President

Madeline Martínez Rivera, President of Quality Food Company Inc., holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Chemistry and a minor in Science Education from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. She also holds a Masters’ Degree in Environmental Management, majoring in Risk Management, from the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico. Martínez has a decade of experience administrating and developing educational programs, and more than five years of experience in food service management. Her interest in helping improve nutrition at schools and corporations led her to establish Quality Food Company Inc. in 2012. Today, her business is one of the fastest growing companies in its field. As a private citizen, Martínez joined FERNI, an NGO that serves children with physical challenges. She became president of FERNI from 2014 to 2015. Today, she is an active member of its Board of Directors and is committed to improving Puerto Rico’s quality of life. Her overachieving success as an entrepreneur was featured in a four-page article published in the Business section of El Nuevo Día.

Miguel E. Pérez, Technical Advisor

Our corporation benefits from the technical advice provided by Professor Miguel E. Perez from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR). Professor Perez holds a degree in Education and a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. He is a prominent and recognized expert in the area of food and beverage administration, with over 10 years of experience in this industry, and with over 18 years in the higher education field. As founding Dean of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration of the UPR, he is a vital asset to our organization and the institutions we serve.

Zinnia Z. Torres, Food Science and Technology Expert

Another key resource is Ms. Zinnia Z. Torres, who holds a bachelor degree in Biology with a specialization in Food Science and Technology, from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. She has conducted several undergraduate research projects in Food Science and Technology, and has participated in scientific sessions at the College of Agricultural Sciences of the UPR. Additionally, she holds the food safety certification for food management granted by the National Restaurant Association. She has also lead interactive coursework at the University of Texas Health Science Center.

John J. Cordero Ramírez, Consultant Chef

Chef John J. Cordero studied at the Caribbean Culinary Institute and has over 13 years of experience in the Culinary Arts. At the hotel industry he strengthened his skills in menu development, special events planning, cost reduction and control, teamwork, project management, customer service, and supervision. With only three years in the business, he became the Executive Sous Chef of the Courtyard Marriott Hotel at Isla Verde. Furthermore, he was professor of Culinary Arts and Cost Control at the Institute of Bank and Commerce of Fajardo. He has further experience in the division of Corporate Restaurants, serving as part of the staff of a multinational business for more than nine years. During this time, he gained knowledge and experience in the area of hygiene and food safety. His experience and commitment make him an ideal resource for our winning team at Quality Food Company Inc.

Wilma Cruz García, Nutricionist

Our nutritional resource is Mrs. Wilma Cruz García, who proudly holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Sciences with a major in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Puerto Rico. She is licensed by the Board of Nutritionists and Dietitians of Puerto Rico, under license #533, and is a member of the Colegio de Nutricionistas y Dietistas de Puerto Rico. She is the only dietitian in Puerto Rico that is certified (Certified Surveyor) by the Center of Medicare and Medicare Services, Title XVIII, of the Federal Government. Additionally, she is a member and founder of the Association for the Quality Improvement Program. Cruz also has the following certifications: Food Safety Management; American Association of Diabetes educators in P.R.; certification from the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services for inspecting the Skilled Nursing facilities; End State Renal Dialysis; Emergency Management (FEMA), and a certification in medical nutrition therapy for the elderly. She also worked as an administrative dietitian at Hospital El Maestro in Hato Rey, and served as nutritionist for the Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Health in San Juan. Cruz was also an advisor for the SecretariaAuxiliarpara la Acreditación y Certificación de Facilidades de Salud.

Our History

Founded in 2012, Quality Food Company Inc., leader in food service and successful corporate business practices and organization, began its healthy adventure providing high-quality food services at school ColegioCatólico Notre Dame in Caguas, where we continue to successfully render our services to an approximate of 1,500 students and 100 faculty staff.

The following year, we expanded our services to the school ColegioCatólico San Juan Apóstol in Caguas, serving 700 children and 70 faculty members. We also began business with V. Suarez and Co., in Bayamón, where we provide breakfast, snacks, and lunch to 300 employees. By mid-2013, we successfully launched the opening of Fusion Restaurant, located at the AuxilioMutuo Hospital in Hato Rey. Our restaurant offers a delicious and elegant alternative to doctors, patients, visitors, and other hospital employees.

In 2014, we expanded our great services to Robinson School in Condado, where we serve 650 students and 150 faculty members.

The following year, we established a cafeteria at the Ángel Ramos Foundation building in Ave. Chardón, Hato Rey. Said cafeteria serves more than 700 employees and clients from various enterprises, including the Electronic Lottery, Humana, Telemundo, FAR Properties and MMM. Also in 2015, we began serving The Palmas Academy in Humacao, where we provide meals to 500 students and 100 faculty members.
